Van crashes into Mercedes Post Office
Comments 0 | Recommend 0MERCEDES — The U.S. Post Office here re-opened after a van collided with the building Monday morning.
A woman lost control of her van about 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Mercedes Post Office, 307 Starr St., said Police Chief Olga Maldonado.
The woman told police the brakes on her van had failed. She was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, Maldonado said. Information on the van’s make and model were not immediately available.
The crash damaged part of the building's brick exterior and roof, Maldonado said.
The post office re-opened about 11:30 a.m. Monday. Police continue to investigate the crash and whether the driver will face criminal charges.
