Mercedes girl killed in hit and run
Comments 0 | Recommend 0WESLACO — Authorities are looking for the driver of a black Dodge Neon that struck and killed a 12-year-old Mercedes girl over the weekend.
Samantha Barron was crossing Mile 5 North Road while walking south on Mile 4 West Road when the Neon, traveling west on Mile 5 North Road, struck the girl. The vehicle continued traveling west, said Trooper Johnny Hernandez, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Saturday, Hernandez said.
Samantha was taken to Knapp Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, Hernandez said.
