GOT A TIP:

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call McAllen Crime Stoppers at (956) 687-8477.

McALLEN — Investigators believe they have identified a vehicle model involved in a hit-and-run wreck that left a cyclist dead last year.

No suspects have been identified after McAllen architect and cyclist Roy Carlson, 31, was killed by a passing motorist in October 2010.

Investigators have analyzed fragments of auto parts found at the scene and believe a dark-colored, late 1990s Ford Escort struck and killed Carlson, said McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez.

Donors have set up a $5,000 cash reward for any information that leads to the driver's arrest — greater than most other Crime Stoppers rewards.

Carlson and a fellow rider were cycling near the intersection of Trenton Road and Main Street before dawn Oct. 21, 2010 when a motorist struck them from behind and fled the scene.

Police continue to investigate the case.
