Get ready to shake your bom bom. Wait – that’s the wrong play on words for this Latin singer. Oh, well. Nevertheless, the sentiment remains true. If anyone’s good at getting people to dance, it’s Paulina Rubio. So if you haven’t already, dust off those 5-inch dancing shoes because Rubio’s upcoming visit to McAllen Convention Center is only days away.
Rubio has earned her title as “Queen of Spanish Pop” in more than 20 years on the music scene, and fans of the genre know her well. Some even call her the Spanish Madonna.
Glorifying titles, Rubio has what could be considered musical street cred. She’s been nominated for or won every Latin-themed music award there is, and sold millions upon millions of records. She has 20 albums under her belt, 11 of which were made pre-1991 with a teen pop group in Mexico.
She even dabbled in the English music scene with 2002’s Border Girl, which produced her radio hit "Don't Say Goodbye (Si Tú Te Vas)."
Her latest tour is in support of her CD Gran City Pop. So far, the tour has hit Houston, Miami and New York. Preliminary reviews of the show indicate that the 38-year-old has all but lost her steam and knack for pleasing the masses – even after so many years on the scene. How many monarchs can say that?
