PalmFest returns to McAllen
McALLEN — The city’s annual celebration of its heritage and culture is here again, as are lots of fajitas.
The fourth annual PalmFest begins Saturday and runs through Sunday at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Blvd., near the junction of South Ware Road and Expressway 83. The RGV Cook-off — formerly the Fajita Cook-off — dovetails with the event and is expected to draw 100 teams.
This year’s festival features Heritage Village — which includes Civil War re-enactments, carriage rides, storytelling, military vehicles and a classic car show — as well as performances by Al Ragusin and his dancing horses and the Houston Rockets training camp.
Other venues will feature games and rides for children, live music and food.
The event is free and open to the public. Gates open at noon both days.
