Border Patrol seizes $13.6 million of marijuana around RGV
EDINBURG—Border Patrol agents seized some 17,000 pounds of marijuana over the weekend in various, unrelated, seizures across the Rio Grande Valley, according to a Border Patrol press release.
The busts occurred from Rio Grande City to Brownsville and north to the Sarita and Falfurrias checkpoints. Falfurrias netted the most contraband, with more than 8,700 pounds of marijuana seized.
In one incident, agents were working near Escobares when they encountered people near the river loading bundles into a pickup truck. When the agents confronted the suspects they found 900 pounds of marijuana in the truck,
In total, weekend seizures resulted in more than $13.6 million in drugs and vehicles confiscated and several arrests.
