Hot Topic stores to sell local band's CD
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Local powerpop band Madore has signed a deal with Hot Topic to have their EP Don’t Get Ahead of Yourself sold at select stores in Texas.
Madore has played in-store concerts a few times for the popular store locally. And Hot Topic began focusing on smaller, local bands in Dec. 2008.
“We want only 20 to 25 of the (albums) we sell to be really big bands and the rest to be small, regional bands, the kinds of bands people want to support and are willing to pay for a CD,” said Betsy McLaughlin, CEO of Hot Topic, as reported by Reuters.
It has yet to be announced when or which stores in Texas will carry Madore’s album.
Both of Madore’s EPs This Town Holds To Many Secrets and Don’t Get Ahead of Yourself can currently be purchased from the band at shows. (ANS)
City seeks art for Candlelight Posada
The McAllen Chamber of Commerce is looking for artists to design the logo and nativity scene for the 27th annual Candlelight Posada. This year’s theme is “A Main Street Christmas”, which should illustrate an early 20th century theme and must include a nativity scene with a shining star in the background.
“We are leaning toward a Charles Dickens looking theme with perhaps men in bowler hats and women carrying parasols,” Cultural Arts Director Greg Schuller said.
Artists interested in submitting their work can do so by sending it via e-mail to gschuller@mcallencvb.com or by mail to McAllen Chamber of Commerce, 1200 Ash Ave., McAllen, TX 78501. (ANS)
