Five died from swine flu in Hidalgo County in June
Comments 0 | Recommend 0McALLEN — Five people died last month from the H1N1 swine flu in Hidalgo County, which has the most cases in Texas, state health officials reported.
Those who died from the flu strain are a man, three women and one boy across Hidalgo County in June, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported on its Web site. A woman in Cameron County died from the H1N1 flu last month, as well.
There are now 1,115 confirmed cases of H1N1 swine flu in Hidalgo County, with another six suspected cases, state health officials said. Harris County ranks second, with 457 cases of the flu strain reported.
There have been 335 cases reported in Cameron County, 36 cases in Starr County and 16 in Willacy County.
Across Texas, there have been 21 deaths and 4,286 confirmed cases of H1N1 swine flu this year.
