SCISSORS — Sheriff’s deputies continued to look for three men Thursday in connection with a home invasion Wednesday morning.
A trio of Hispanic men stormed a residence at 1717 S. De La Rosa Drive, south of Donna, about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Nora Garcia, 25, told Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies that two men, one of whom was armed with a double-barrel shotgun, burst through her home’s front door, demanding jewelry and money.
The men escorted Garcia, her three children and her sister, Yohanna, into a bedroom and held them at gunpoint, deputies said. A third man came inside and helped ransack the home.
Garcia said the men made off with two 32-inch televisions, two DVD players and a beige Nine West purse with $120 in cash and personal documents.
The robbers, who all appeared to be in their mid-20s, took off in a light-blue Ford Explorer while Garcia and her family remained inside the bedroom.
No injuries were reported in connection with the home invasion.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said investigators do not believe the victims had criminal ties.
