Wedding: Guerra-Menchaca

Jolynn Guerra and Mario Anes Menchaca were united in holy matrimony on Friday, October 23, 2009. Justice of the Peace Juan Rosel wed the happy couple. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, Joey Guerra.

Jolynn is the daughter of Melinda and Joey Guerra of McAllen. She is the granddaughter of Anita R. and the late Ramon N. Garcia of McAllen and the late Maria Luisa and Ignacio Guerra and the late Rita and Santiago Utley of Benavides.

Mario is the son of Nilda M. Anes and Javier Anes of McAllen. He is the grandson of Otilia G. Menchaca and the late Jose Jesus Menchaca and Luisa Anes and the late Juan Anes of McAllen.

The wedding party included the bride’s best friend, Jackie Cantu, and the bride’s sister, Samantha Guerra serving as maids of honor.

The bride’s sisters, Mary Alice Guerra and Victoria Guerra, served as bridesmaids.

The flower girls were Hannah Ruiz and Analyssa Anes, nieces of the groom.

Robert Zepeda, Jr., served as the best man and groomsmen were the groom’s brothers, Ricardo Anes and Daniel Anes.

Ushers were the groom’s nephews, Isaac Mendoza and Israel Ruiz.

The bride carried a beautiful bouquet of roses in her wedding colors of fuchsia and purple, as she walked down the aisle.

The bride chose an elegant strapless chiffon wedding dress with a silver-beaded bodice.

The dinner and reception were held at Sonia’s Party Place in Mission. The banquet hall was beautifully decorated in fuchsia and purple.

The bride’s cake was a two tiered pineapple cream cake with fuchsia and purple rosebuds cascading down the side. The groom’s cake was a traditional chocolate cake.

DJ Daniel Nava provided the music.

The bride graduated from Nikki Rowe High School in 2004 and from Houston Community College. She is employed with Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance as a physical therapist assistant and is continuing her education in this field.

The groom graduated from Nikki Rowe High School in 2004 and immediately joined the United States Marines. He was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and served in Afghanistan and Iraq. He recently graduated from the D.P.S. Academy in Austin and he is employed as a state trooper in McAllen.

A special tribute was dedicated to the groom’s Marine buddies attending: LCpl John Bishop, New Braunfels, Cpl Jose Nava, Brownsville and LCpl Robert Zepeda, McAllen.
