McALLEN — Locals planning their next vacation will be able to learn about regional and world travel from more than 130 exhibitors at this week's McAllen International Travel Show.

The event, entering its 21st year, will also feature entertainment from the Ballet Folkórico of Nuevo Leon, among others.

Event organizers tout the show as an opportunity to arrange itineraries, buy tickets, get discounts and learn about new places to visit.

The event will feature exhibitors from various Mexican cities, among other destinations. Eight cruise lines will also be on hand, said Jim Deuser of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.

At least six hotels from Cozumel will advertise their facilities, and for the first time ever, the Caribbean will be represented, thanks to an exhibit by a Barbados resort.

The McAllen International Travel Show will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the McAllen Convention Center, near the intersection of South Ware Road and Expressway 83. The event is free and open to the public.
