EDINBURG — Crews are putting out a grass fire that nearly reached two homes Wednesday night, officials said.
Emergency crews with the McAllen and Edinburg fire departments rushed to the location about 9 p.m., said McAllen fire Capt. Javier Gutierrez. The fire was located near the intersection of Ware and Monte Cristo roads.
"It was threatening a lot of structures," said Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snider.
By 10 p.m., the blaze was under control and crews were putting out hot spots. Eight fire trucks arrived at the site, which is densely covered in dry grass.
The blaze spread by about one or two acres, Snider said.
No injuries were reported.
