BROOKS COUNTY - Several emergency responders from across the Rio Grande Valley are heading north to combat a massive wild fire.

Apparently the fire which is some 18 miles west of Falfurrias in Brooks County is nearly 5.5 miles wide and growing, said Tony Pena, Hidalgo County Emergency Management Coordinator.

"All I know is that they need to (bull dozers) to work the fire," said Domingo Hinojosa, fire chief for Linn-San Manuel fire department.
