More than 2 tons of pot seized at Falfurrias checkpoint
FALFURRIAS — Officials seized about 4,700 pounds of marijuana early Saturday morning at the U.S. Border Patrol’s Falfurrias checkpoint.
An official with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said the drugs were hidden among crates of broccoli being carried by a tractor-trailer.
Drug detection dogs alerted officials to the presence of the marijuana.
The investigation into the drug load is ongoing. The DEA would provide no further details about the case.
