Driving in South Texas is strongly discouraged due to flooding, debris and down power lines. Motorists should never cross roadways with water because the dept of the water is unknown. We ask for all citizens to closely monitor the road conditions and allow time for work crews to clear the roadway. Citizens are asked to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.
For road conditions, you can visit the TxDOT website at www.txdot.gov or call TxDOT's automated phone system at 1-800-452-9292.
TxDOT's goal before, during and after a tropical storm/hurricane emergency is to get people to safety, get people home safely and help in the cleanup and recovery. We are working with state emergency management officials and local officials to provide TxDOT resources and expertise necessary to ensure the safety of all Texas residents.
