RIO GRANDE CITY -- A wanted sex offender turned himself in to border officials Tuesday afternoon at the Rio Grande City-Ciudad Camargo crossing.

Alfonso Juarez, a U.S. citizen from Bishop, Texas, was traveling northbound when he told police he was a wanted fugitive.

Juarez, 20, is in the Rio Grande City jail pending extradition to the Bishop police department. A warrant for his arrest states he is wanted on state charges for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
