Wedding: Adame-Davis
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Monica Lorena Adame and Thomas (Tommy) Rand Davis, Jr. were joyfully united in marriage at The Inn at Chachalaca, Los Fresnos, Texas Saturday, April 18, 2009. The Reverend Joel Martinez, friend of the bride's family from Brownsville, Texas, performed the ceremony held in the early evening beside the waters edge of the Resaca at the Inn.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. (Carmen) Angel Gabriel Adame, Sr. of Mission, Texas. The groom is the son of Mrs. Mike (Lynn Davis) Banks of McAllen, Texas and Cedar Crest, New Mexico.
Keeping with the bride and groom's desire for simplicity and elegance, the bride wore a floor length, halter style silk gown with specially made earrings and matching bracelet given to her by the groom. Her beautiful and extraordinary hairpiece was a one of a kind adornment made by former McAllenite, now of New York City, close friend Laurel St. Romain. To compliment the bride's engagement ring (having belonged to the groom's great, great aunt, the late Sue Abshire), Monica and Tommy made by hand each others wedding band.
The bride carried a lovely bouquet of green and white orchids, white hydrangea, velvet tuberose and Belles of Ireland.
As a string trio played for the wedding procession, the mothers of the bride and groom were escorted to their seats.
The flower girls were Andrea and Victoria Adame, young nieces of the bride and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Arturo (Lillian Adame) Nelson of Brownsville and Ellie Moreno, one and a half year old niece of the groom and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cheo (Kate Davis) Moreno of Fort Worth, Texas.
The ring pillow, made by the groom's mother was carried by one year old Arturo Nelson, nephew of the bride, who was carried by his mother, Mrs. Arturo (Lillian Adame) Nelson, sister of the bride.
The bride was attended by her sister, Cynthia Adame of Mission, Texas as Coleman James Davis, of Austin, Texas stood beside his brother.
The music-filled evening continued with the University of Texas at Brownsville Mariachis greeting the newly married couple, delighting family and friends. After their exceptional performance, Monica and Tommy had their first dance, with their guests soon following them onto the dance floor, surrounded by the tiny white lights hanging from the trees, creating a magical atmosphere.
The bride's cake was a traditional multi-tiered Italian cream cake decorated with green orchids. The groom's cake was designed like a movie clapper to signify his career in film, personalized with their names as the stars.
The rehearsal dinner had been held the previous evening at The Patio on Guerra in McAllen, complemented by the music of Master Guitarist, Brooks Ausborn. After being seated, the dinner guests wrote their wishes for Monica and Tommy on the back of their place cards (tied with bows to silver wishbones) and placed them in a bowl (surrounded by a ring of flowers which served as the centerpiece) for the couple to read later.
Besides family and friends who traveled from New York City, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Linares, Monterrey and Guadalajara, Mexico, were Monica's sisters (mentioned previously) and her brothers and spouses: Mr. and Mrs. (Jessica) Angel Gabriel Adame, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Luis (Erica) Adame, all of McAllen.
Tommy's sisters and spouses included Miss Emily Lynn Davis of Carmel, Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. (Peachy) Porter Robinson of New Braunfels, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. (Kate) Cheo Moreno of Fort Worth, Texas. William Rhett Robinson, six month old nephew of the groom and Eleanor Reese Moreno, one and a half year old niece of the groom, also attended. Mr. William L. Morris of McAllen and Ms. Shelley Copeland, godmother of the groom, from Plano, Texas, were special guests.
Monica and Tommy are both graduates of McAllen High School.
Monica graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and attended NYU graduate school.
Tommy graduated from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is the director/producer of the films: Mojados Through the Night and One Minute to Nine (now owned by HBO).
After a three week honeymoon in Argentina, Patagonia, and throughout South America, the bride and groom will reside in New York City where Monica works at Kaplan, Inc. and Tommy continues working as a filmmaker.
