EDINBURG -- Authorities are still looking for a man they filed murder charges against on Friday in what they believe was the revenge killing of a rural Mercedes man.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputies said 28-year-old Louie Palomo shot and killed Noe Gonzalez Treviño the night of May 1 at 1805 Ebony St. in the Rebel Heights Subdivision, north of Mercedes.

Investigators said the two men were involved in a "physical altercation" the day before the homicide, according to court documents in the case.

Palomo, who resides in the Indian Hills subdivision north of Mercedes, vowed he would get revenge.

Palomo allegedly drove the car - his own beige 1987 Nissan Maxima - involved in the fatal drive-by shooting. Authorities consider Palomo armed and dangerous.

Investigators questioned a 16-year-old boy who implicated himself, Palomo and a still unidentified man. The 16-year-old said he was in the back seat, Palomo drove and the unidentified man fired several shots at the victim, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said.

The 16-year-old faces juvenile murder charges.

The alleged shooter will also face murder charges in the crime, but Sheriff Treviño, who is not related to the victim, refused to release further information about the suspect on Monday.

Deputies seized the Nissan Maxima that Palomo allegedly drove during the shooting after it was located May 6 at an auto paint and body shop in Mercedes.

Authorities confirmed the juvenile's story with evidence recovered from Palomo's car, Treviño's body and the crime scene.

Anyone who sees Palomo is urged to contact Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers at (956) 668-8477.
