STC Mid-Valley Campus welcomes Valley native author Eddie Howell Sr.

Eddie Howell Sr., author of “Por Unos Elotes” and screen writer of “Harvest of Redemption,” will be reading from his book, which is based on true experiences, and presenting clips from his movie to inspire students with his story of faith, hope, revenge and forgiveness. The event takes place Tuesday Oct . 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at South Texas College’s Mid- Valley Campus Auditorium in Building G, Room 191. The campus is located at 400 North Border in Weslaco. Admission is free and open to the public.

A Rio Grande Valley native, Howell spent his summers harvesting corn, cotton, tomatoes and watermelon. He was a hard worker who excelled in school and worked year round for his father’s shop. He served in Vietnam, earned a master’s of education from The University of Texas-Pan American, and retired after more than 30 years as a coach, counselor, and teacher in various districts in the Valley.

The event is made possible by South Texas College’s Literary Arts Society and Border Studies Club, as well as Safe Zone.
