Three arrested in drug raid near Alton
Comments 0 | Recommend 0NEAR ALTON — Sheriff's deputies made three arrests Monday after they found more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana inside a house.
Narcotics investigators with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office received a tip and raided a house at 6425 Doffing Lane near Mission about 11 p.m. Monday, according to an agency statement.
Homeowner Ligda Gomez gave consent for deputies to search the house, where they found 141 bundles of marijuana that weighed 1,128 pounds.
Deputies arrested Gomez, 33, and Daniel Ruvalcalva, 19, who was also at the house during the raid. They also arrested Jose Martinez, 26, one of two men who ran from the house as authorities arrived.
The trio was charged with felony possession of marijuana, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 upon conviction.
