HARLINGEN - The Harlingen fire and police departments are investigating a house fire at 1825 N. Eighth Street where a 37-year-old man was found dead Monday, police said.

Police spokesman Sgt. John Parrish said the fire and police departments responded to the call about 7:40 a.m.

Authorities at the scene found the body of a man inside the burning house, Parrish said.

The man, whose name has not been released was treated at the scene, but Judge Rolando Muniz pronounced the man dead, according to a press statement.

Fire Chief Michael Rinaldi said the cause of fire has not been determined and fire marshals are investigating the incident.

Three fire trucks, one fire rescue truck, two district captains and two fire prevention personnel responded to the call, Rinaldi said.
